Sari de la Motte is a communications consultant who works with trial lawyers across the country, including several members of the Inner Circle of Advocates. Because of her unique ability to help attorneys communicate authentically, some have even called her “The Attorney Whisperer.”
In this two-hour lecture from Rick Friedman’s Take Back the Courtroom IV CLE, Sari shows you four strategies for how to move jurors from being “captive hostages” to willing participants. She also discusses the power of presence in the courtroom, different communication styles, how to overcome fears of the jury, develop your own charisma, and more.

"What were your key takeaways from the program? Exceptional presentation on both nonverbal and verbal communication skills and how we can harness them both to empower our jury. This is a paradigm shift for my practice, where I have, at times, approached the jury timid and apologetic, knowing they don't want to be there. This is particularly important as we emerge from isolation due to Covid. One of my biggest worries has been a jury angry with me because my client is forcing them to be there and, in so doing, is putting them in harm's way. Which topics did you find least valuable and why? This presentation was a wealth of information. I could immerse myself in this stuff for days. While I would not characterize the topic of owning the space to be "least valuable," I do believe I probably needed more information to be able to fully understand this concept. For this reason, I don't feel as though I got as much practical guidance from this topic."
