Description

It’s the harsh reality that every trial lawyer knows: some people in your jury pool will have already made up their minds before you say a word. In every trial, there will be some potential jurors who will not find in favor of your client no matter what evidence you present. This arguably makes voir dire the most important part of your trial—and certainly one of the most challenging. Without a crystal ball, how can you possibly know what your potential jurors are thinking?

Join John G. Simon, a highly successful trial attorney and member of the Inner Circle of Advocates whose work has won hundreds of millions for past clients, as he discusses proven methods for jury selection that provide a solid foundation for winning your case. He will cover the primary goals of voir dire, including developing trust, framing your issues, and removing jurors for cause.

This comprehensive webinar will also cover:
  • Keeping jurors talking
  • Being a great listener
  • Establishing credibility
  • Asking meaningful questions
  • Embracing bad answers
  • Dealing with damages
  • Evaluating nonverbal communication
  • Using your time effectively
  • Undermining defenses
  • Identifying juror bias

As goes voir dire, so goes your case. Planning and executing an effective voir dire is among the most important things you can do to improve your next trial outcome.

Be honest and be yourself.

Embrace your worst fact and do not hide it Which topics did you find least valuable and why? I have a jury trial starting Tuesday and it has made me comfortable again. It was a good overview

"What were your key takeaways from the program? It was a good overview of jury selection and of polarizing the issues or framing the issues Which topics did you find least valuable and why? I found the information regarding rehab and cause challenges to be very geared towards newer lawyers, but that's okay."

Elicia M. (5/5)

one third to one half

"What were your key takeaways from the program? one third to one half of hte jurors will have their mind smade up before the trial begins. Your main goal in jury selection is: 1) develop trust and credibility; 2) frame your issues; 3) get bad jurors off by protectory strike or strikes for cause. You must be a good listener. There are a variety of questions that can be asked to determine who are good jurors. I will nto go into that level of detail. With regard to strikes for cause, you need to identify the bias; get the juror to commit to... Which topics did you find least valuable and why? I don't really have a response to this. I believe that all the informatoin that Mr. Simon provided was valuable and as I mentioned, it was distilled down to its very essence, so the informatoin was easy to understand and digest."
