Rules of the Road™ is America’s bestselling text on proving liability. In the years since its original release, it has helped lawyers throughout the country win six-, seven-, and eight-figure verdicts in cases with difficult liability.

The authors honed this ground-breaking work in its second edition. In addition to making revisions throughout the book clarifying concepts in the first edition, Friedman and Malone added six new chapters. These chapters cover the differences between Rules and principles, how to troubleshoot your Rules, and how to fit Rules of the Road techniques into your case themes. They discuss how to use Rules earlier in the case, through motions in limine and voir dire. They include samples of Rules from a variety of types of cases, including medical malpractice, product liability, insurance claims practice cases, and many more.

This audiobook version is read by leading trial consultant and actor/director/writer Joshua Karton. As a legal consultant, Mr. Karton serves on the faculty and develops curriculum for leading plaintiff and defender associations, including AAJ and NACDL, as well as for NITA, ABA, and law schools. He has been an instructor at Gerry Spence's Trial Lawyers College in Wyoming since its inception, prepared the oral presentation of successful cases before the U.S. Supreme Court, and piloted the Advanced Trial Advocacy Course for the JAG Corps. Outside the legal field, he served on the faculty of the School of Theater at the University of Southern California, and his students include recipients of Oscars™ and Emmys™. As the owner of Communication Arts for the Professional in Santa Monica, California, he maintains a professional practice of individual case consultation and witness preparation.
