This image shows both the hyperflexion, hyperextension mechanism of injury, as well as a cross section of injury to the spine in a traumatic cervical spine.  Illustrations demonstrate normal spinal muscles, injured spinal muscles, and post-traumatic scarring of the spinal muscles. Inset images demonstrate physiologic damage to the intervertebral muscles of the spine.   Also included are descriptions about nerve entrapment in the resulting scar tissue – resulting in “hyperinnervation supersensitivity” that results in injured people having chronic pain with changes in the weather due to the lowered nerve action potential being triggered by changes in atmospheric pressure. Optimal for use in traumatic neck injuries resulting from a motor vehicle collision sometimes referred to as “whiplash.”
