Earlier this year Washington lawyer Paul Luvera obtained a $40 million verdict against Edwards Lifesciences Inc., which failed to warn users about dangers of a machine that malfunctioned and literally cooked a man's live heart in 2004. It isn't the first giant verdict for Luvera, who has also obtained verdicts of $44 million in Oregon, $29 million in Idaho, as well as dozens of multi-million settlements, including one for $75 million. He is the past president of the Inner Circle of Advocates, a member of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, and a long time teacher at the Trial Lawyers College with his friend Gerry Spence.
