This program addresses issues that policyholders face when pursuing insurance coverage for losses from the coronavirus shutdown. Insurance companies are beginning to issue responses, including denials and, potentially, more complicated requests for information. Policyholders need to be prepared to take steps to support their claims. Policyholders can expect to be confronted with issues that include:

  • Addressing policy language that requires “physical loss or damage”
  • Dealing with limitations from fungus/bacteria/virus exclusions or pollution exclusions
  • Analyzing coverage extensions for civil authority, ingress/egress, or attraction property

As policyholders are beginning to see responses from insurance companies, they will need to document their claims and protect their coverage. Over the course of this program, these issues, and others, will be addressed by a panel of experienced trial lawyers who specialize in representing policyholders when insurance companies fail to pay their claims.
