The seminar will cover advanced topics in how to handle motor vehicle cases in a modern insurance environment. As author of the definitive text on Colossus, DeShaw will discuss how claims are segmented at auto insurers, and how each of these claims is handled.

Topics will include

  • Bill and procedure review software
  • Injury claims assessment software (including Colossus)
  • Minor Impact Soft Tissue (MIST) cases
  • Special Investigations Unit
  • Permanent injuries under the AMA Guides to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment
  • Use of advanced testing to support injuries

The seminar will also cover spotting common injuries that will substantially change case value, including:

  • Upper cervical ligament rupture
  • Inner ear injuries
  • Mild traumatic brain injuries
  • Other advanced diagnostic topics

The seminar will run 9a.m.–5p.m. Friday, May 15th, and 9a.m.–5p.m. Saturday, May 16th. Registration will begin at 8:00a.m. Friday, May 15th.

He has lectured at events for both physicians and legal professionals including American Association for Justice (formerly the American Trial Lawyers Association), the Brain Injury Association of Oregon, the Spine Research Institute of San Diego, and private seminars for leading insurance bad faith lawyers.
